Plants vs Zombies

I’ve been distracted lately. Why? ‘cos I’ve been playing Plants vs Zombies!

Okay, I’m probably late to the game as usual, but I’m a fan of ‘defense’ genre games and, though PvZ doesn’t really add anything new to the genre, it’s a well made, fun little game.

The main game takes place on your lawn, and later your roof. You have certain plants, and you get more as you go along, who can grow and defend against the well animated zombie menace that threatens to eat your brains!

Admittedly it didn’t really take me that long to beat all the levels, but there’s more! As well as a variety of mini-games and challenges, you also have a Zen garden and challenge mode. So even if you finish the main game, you can keep coming back for more action.

As I said, it’s nothing really original, but the quality of the graphics, the smoothness of the gameplay, and the sheer fun of it will keep you coming back for more.

You can find a demo version, as well as the full game over at Popcap games. Recommended!

Keeping Afloat: While the newspaper industry struggles, how does one free weekly survive?

Keeping Afloat: While the newspaper industry struggles, how does one free weekly survive?

Look Local is a small free newspaper distributed in the area where I live. I worked there between March and April and later wrote this article as coursework for my journalism degree. This is also a sort of test post for Tome Journals. Enjoy! “When the paper started it was one A4 sheet that Adrian printed in his bedroom and delivered himself.” A...

Breaking Bad returns!

A series that I consider hasn’t had enough acclaim is back. Season three of Breaking Bad returned last week, and I was all over it like a particularly bad rash. If you haven’t seen this yet, I suggest you dig it out of whatever site you use for TV shows. It’s about a leading scientist ... ...

Archer.

The first episode I saw of Archer was, in fact, the pilot, and I wasn’t really sure what to make of it. Still, I kept watching and I’m glad I did. Archer is a cartoon series for adults. It features a dysfunctional spy agency ISIS, and the agents and staff who work for it. Their ... ...
