Archer.
The first episode I saw of Archer was, in fact, the pilot, and I wasn’t really sure what to make of it. Still, I kept watching and I’m glad I did.
Archer is a cartoon series for adults. It features a dysfunctional spy agency ISIS, and the agents and staff who work for it.
Their top agent is Archer, and handsome and skilled spy who is also arrogant and incredibly self centered. He also happens to be the son of the agency’s boss, a corrupt older spy who’s in bed, sometimes literally, with a senior officer in the KGB.
Other members of the gang include Lana, a female equivalent of Archer, her clingy accountant boyfriend and a range of other colorful characters.
The beauty of Archer isn’t the spywork, but the interaction between the staff. They are all bitter in one way or another, and most of them don’t like each other.
All this adds for some amusing antics as they attempt, not always successfully, to perform their spy work.
The cartoon doesn’t feature full frontal nudity, but adult situations and language abound.
Disney it isn’t, but you’ll be glad of the fact all the same.
Chinaren rating: 5/6. Worthy entertainment.
